Video: Liverpool Transfer Targets – Paddy McCourt

Posted on 15. Aug, 2011 by in Media

Liverpool have been linked with a shock move for Celtic bench warmer Paddy McCourt, but you might be left wondering why he’s not a first team fixture when you see what he can do.

Before you view this video it is worth noting that this is a prime example of why you shouldn’t form an opinion of a player based on his YouTube showreel. As outlined in our full breakdown of this rumour, McCourt severely lacks fitness and focus making him inconsistent at best. But when he is at his best, he’s absolutely unstoppable.

This is ridiculous! Based on this video he woulden’t make it one week in PL. He’s dribbling his way through statues – awful defending all the way and very slow tempo. Can’t believe Dalglish is actually serious about this guy..

daniel did you even watch the video? clearly not statues pal they are trying to pull him down more than making a clear challange , spl defending is brutal none the less but for 1-2 million id have him as a squad player

The guy’s got great dribbling skills. He could have been another Sanchez but for all the shortcomings.

Dalglish is a good man manager but in terms of transfers he is very poor. He limits that amount of talented players he could buy because he wants british players only so that will simply excluded 99% of the talented players in the world.

The only good signing was Suarez and he was coming regardless if Dalglish, Hodgson or anyone else was manager. Downing is good and is consistent but he is 27 after 3 seasons max he will lose what pace he has and looking at the likes of Nani, Valencia and Young its not hard to see Downing lacks variety and flair to beat players, he is talented but must add trickery to his game.

Carragher has been a good servant to us at Liverpool but its time he did whats best for the club and bowed out, if that prick Neville can do that for his club then Carragher must do the same for us, so we can then buy either Shawcross, Alex or Sahko.

We need a winger because Kuyt hasn’t got the pace and skill to be a winger he should stay as a striker maybe even Dyer of Swansea who is miles better than this guy Mccourt, the scottich league is terrible Celtic and Rangers wouldn’t survive in the Championship i am suprised they still get a Champions League spot.

It’s funny, but i kinda like this guy. He’s got some old school moves. But I don’t know if he’s going to mix well with the team. for a cheap price, why not.

To be honest, if we buy him there is gna be a massive chance he wont perform and just end up in the long list of “deadwoods” we have at the moment. He’s quite decent but looking at the shocking defence of the oponents he’s taking on I hinestly dont think he will stay on his feet if he comes to the Premier League. Get another faster playmaker of a winger now or wait till january…

I thought that the commenters were being a bit harsh, but after watching the video I was completely shocked – that defending was absolutely pathetic and barely better than you’ll see in my Sunday league!

Maybe the dream isn’t over after all; if I want to make it as a pro I just need to head up to Scotland!!

Jay u are right man the defending is a joke and going to scotland, Ireland, America or Australia would be a good way of getting signed becuase the leagues are so poor and so many managers are trying to do an Arsene Wenger and sign a quality player who might have slipped throught the net and is playing in a weak league.

If he is signed then he is another dead weight to our team which is not needed.

PaddyMc Court is a wonderful player who maybe short of fitness but dont you think at the right price coming to Anfield and having the facilities at Melwood his fitness could increase. Due to his lack of fitness and consistancy he maywell just be a good squad player but if this guy was fitter and more consistant well you probaly one of the best players of this age and would deliver massive preformances in the most important games, not only does this guy have dribbling ability but his passing and vision is something else. Please dont judge this guy on what you have seen on this video, This guy has done much more thats been unseen yet.
    Good luck Paddy whatever!!
