Suarez Apologises for Handshake Snub

Posted on 12. Feb, 2012 by in News

Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has apologised for rejecting Patrice Evra’s offer of a handshake prior to the Premier League meeting with Manchester Utd on Saturday.

Suarez’ statement read: ”I have spoken with the Manager since the game at Old Trafford and I realise I got things wrong.

“I’ve not only let him down, but also the Club and what it stands for and I’m sorry. I made a mistake and I regret what happened.

“I should have shaken Patrice Evra’s hand before the game and I want to apologise for my actions.

“I would like to put this whole issue behind me and concentrate on playing football.”

I do not know who Liverpool’s legal advisor’s are but this only makes it worse…If they think this will stop the witch hunt they are much mistaken. They have made the club look a bunch of clowns again

Suarez obviously feels he had an injustice therefore i don’t blame him. None of us really know 100% what was said between the two players last year. i think Suarez was made an example of

Absolutely ridiculous! We shouldn’t crumble to the pressure all this has forced on us. Evra assaulted Suarez when he grabbed him the way he did, and if they looked back at the footage they will see that Evra’s hand was down therefore Suarez could make the argument he thought he never intended to shake his hand.

It’s a shame the world is full of fucking idiots unable to use their common sense anymore.

John Terry fucks Wayne Bridge’s wife and neither one of them shake, no issue. I’m sorry but calling someone a ‘negrito’ or even worse is not as bad as having someone smash your wife and wrecking a family!

Evra is an attention whore and all the papers and all the other press are doing is playing right into the pathetic little frogs hands! yea thats racist so what, he is, and he has a fucking baguette shoved up his arse the disgusting little cunt!

For God’s sake, this kind of stupid language, conspiracy theory and utter denial is why everyone keeps making allegations about LFC being racist and never taking responsibility. Dalgish, Suarez and managament have accepted it, legal experts have agreed, so why can’t some of the fans just accept facts and get on with it????

time to get on with the Football we lost to Utd but Results went for us not out of the running for CM Place and with Arsenal and Chelsea to come to Anfield all to play for, We need everyone the fans the players and the Manager pulling in the Same Direction .
I want to talk about our aims for the rest of the season and forget this sorry affair all we will do by keeping this in the public eye is feed the bias Press and give the so called expert pundits something to have another Dig at Liverpool about

Handshake this is ridiculous and is just a waste of time it makes no difference if he did or didn’t shake with Evra.
On the other hand i think we now see how awful the players we invested in are and KK and company were wrong not to acquire anyone in the January window, now we only can truly look forward to the Carling cup and its no true success when there is lots more the club should be achieving.
The squad in my honest opinion needs an overhaul, right now i see no Champions League with this team and i hope they don’t blow winning the carling cup.
Disappointed is an understatement altho Man U has more quality players than LFC.
New players this summer ASAP ASAFP

Huge credit to the owners for forcing Kenny and Luis to issue public apologies. I’m sure they’ve gone even further up in the estimations of all true LFC fans.

We’ve done wrong, we’ve not apologised, let’s move on and stop dragging the previously good name of LFC through the dirt.

Kenny Does not know where to turn to, with the exception of Jose Enrique & CraigB his summer signings have been awful to say the least (including Carrol).

What does he do when the next transfer window opens go to his bosses and tell them that the players he brought in all have to go for less than half the price he bought them.

I don’t think so! I hope that somehow he can get the best out of them over the remainder of the season and pray to God that he makes forth place because If I were John Henry I’d think twice before putting my signature on a cheque for one of Kenny’s next BIG signings.

he has no respect for evra and why should he, therefore he did not shake his hand. why did ferdinand not shake suarez’s hand ? and why is nothing made of it and why nothing of terry and bridge and why is terry’s case put back until the summer, we all know why, it stinks to high heaven and makes me hate murdochs empire even more, suarez is not a racist and has never been proven to be, evra’s word and the ill conceived judgement of a panle does not make him so. if it was any other club or any other player, it would not be mentioned, as for ferguson, maybe in his old age he forgot ferdinand deliberatley missing a drugs test or cantona assaulting a member of the public, now that really is a disgrace !!

where do we go from here? i have been a huge fan of daglish from his playing days, his reputation is on the fringes after this w/kend,the club has & will suffer from this fallout in franchise/merchandise sales, todays involvement of directors & owners has to be applauded but it might be a little too late,L.FC. have never been intimidated like this before by media coverage, bad judgement /blind loyalty to a player ,kenny should have put down measures that this did not happen, all we did was play straight in evra /ferguson hands.i wouldn.t consider s.a.f comments for a moment, his players are mostly drug cheats, media chasers ,granny bangers. he,s always trying to bully opposing managers,as for evra he must shoulder some blame here too.4th or 5th is irrelevant now at this stage ,our reputation is at stake,we are a worldwide brand & recognised all over the place but we must try repair our image,on the positive side we can only improve our results on the table,as for suarez some say we cant dispose of his talent,we can if it continues to taint our image and affect judgement with kenny.

Fergie check list: Kung Fu kick a fan – ok. Miss a drug test – ok. Sleep with your brother’s wife for years – ok. Shag a granny prostitute – ok. Refuse to shake an opponent’s hand – ban him for life.

Come on in the grand scheme of things who really cares. I Don’t feel ashamed as a Liverpool fan I just want to win the league, screw the politics and just play football….. One hundred people were killed the other day in Syria and our press is full of a meaningless handshake, lets get this into perspective. Stop the witch hunt and start the game…….

I’m a man utd fan and think all you liverpool fans should be ashamed of yourselves. The club should sack kenny dalglish and sell Saurez…I have no respect for liverpool and feel that the FA and FIFA should ban the club from all competitions for 1 year

What about the Rhodri Giggs situation? In biblical times Ryan Giggs would have to be stoned to death for sleeping with a brothers wife. Yet people want Suarez banned for not shaking hands, unbelievable.

    Dog, excellent post mate.
There has been a massive over-reaction to this and I’m sick of it already.
That said, Suarez fcuked up badly and will be punished by the club accordingly. Let’s just hope he can redeem himself by scoring the goals that take us up to 4th. And then maybe he’ll still be with us next season…
