Royston Drenthe Close to Joining Liverpool: So He Claims.

Out of favor Real Madrid defender Royston Drenthe, has made claims that he will soon be a Liverpool player according to the Daily Star. The 23-year-old suffered the curse of the pundits when he was dubbed as one of Europe’s hottest prospects. The left-back, who can also be played on the wing, failed to live up to his name and has since fallen down the pecking order at Real Madrid.
Sources now suggest that the Dutchman’s time at the Bernabeu is coming to an end after the player was quoted saying ‘he will be soon be joining Liverpool’.
“I will soon be joining Liverpool. I hope I will have a good season with my new club,”
Drenthe began his professional career at Feyenoord before eventual joining Madrid in 2007. With many years ahead of him, the former Holland U21 is looking to re-ignite his career and the lure of joining fellow countrymen, Dirk Kuyt and Ryan Babel may be just the opportunity he needs.
Kopsource rating: 7/10 – If the price is right.
Don’t get me wrong. I think Drenthe is a good player, but unless the price is the right one (read ‘cheap’), then there is no point in signing him. Although young, he will have been shorter than Danny Devito in regards to playing time.
However, perhaps this is exactly the move he needs. It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming days. I suspect it is just a rumour, though.
