Poll: Should LFC Keep Aquilani?

Posted on 07. Aug, 2011 by in Debate

Alberto Aquilani divides opinion among Liverpool fans like no other, with some sections of the Anfield faithful singing his praises and others urging him out of the door. But what do you think?

Lots of supporters will have witnessed Aquilani in action first hand during the club’s pre-season campaign, as well as keeping tabs on him while on loan at Juventus, and should therefore be able to form a well-rounded opinion of the player. So, now that we’ve had a good look at what he can do, should we keep the Italian play maker at Anfield or cash in while we can?

What should LFC do with Alberto Aquilani

    I think lucas divides opinion more! I think keep him tho, he has proven technical ability on the ball thst not many other players seem to have.

      I agree! He has alot of doubters, but Lucas won more tackles than any prem player last season, what he lack in attck he makes up for in defence! Every good CM needs a top DM! E.g. Alonso, Mascherano. Pirlo, Gattuso. Lampard, Essien!

    Winning squads have quality in depth. Still, we have no one technically better or with better vision up the pitch. He’s very tidy and has great ability. SUPPORT THE AQUAMAN!

    Apart from Aquilan we dont hv any player maker. There4 we should keep him for the betterness of our club.

    We shouldn’t have loaned him out last year in the first place. When he got fit towards the end of his first season and he got a few games you could see that he was capable of giving us something. The thing is we’ve got quite a bunch of CM but on the other hand it’s great for the strength in depth. I voted to keep him and if he’s still here when the season begins then I’m going to support him but if he leaves then so be it. However the biggest question for me is can we keep both Mereiles and Aquilani?
    For the time being as long as Gerrard is injured we could use Lucas, Adam, Aquilani and Meireles as CM or CAM. Sadly Spearing would be a fringe player in this case. Maybe it would be useful to loan him just like Shelvey. And don’t think about Poulsen. I hope he’s gone by the 31st August. Use Henderson on the right with Kuyt pendling between the right side and up front.

    At the end of the day we’ve got a luxury problem on our hands here and that’s something we haven’t always had.

      I think the Meireles injury is more serious than we’re being led to believe.

    i think lucas USED TO divide opinions more than most. But after last season’s performance if you’re not on his side, you’ll never be. You keep Aqua because it creates competition for players and you need the depth if we’re going to try and challenge on 3 fronts with Top 4 a priority. We’re holding all the cards though. He has 3 years left on his deal. No need to sell on the cheap. Who knows, he does well and next summer he could go for 12-15mil instead of the 10mil figure being thrown out there

    can anyone confirm if Spearing and Shelvey both turned down loan deals this summer? If so, they either have too high an opinion of their talents or are getting bad career advice. I can make a case for Spearing as a holding player as to why he wants to compete, but Jonjo? He’s gotta be behind Adam, Aqua, and Stevie G in the depth chart.

    89% to keep him? Not looking like much divided opinion to me ha ha. Keep him if possible, only let him go if an Italian side are willing to take him home like he seems to want and are willing to pay what he’s WORTH which is at least 14 million plus!

    I rate him very highly as a CAM…Aquaman got skill man…he should be the general alongside Gerrard!Just the thought of him feeding the ever looking to score Saurez is mouthwatering Rather get rid of the deadwood…A

    LIVERPOOL have finally agreed a £5.5million fee for Newcastle defender Jose Enrique.

    The two sides have been at loggerheads all summer over a price for the attack-minded Spaniard.

    But with Enrique refusing to sign a contract and going on Twitter to criticise his club, the Magpies have decided to take the money on offer from the Reds.

    And Kenny Dalglish is now in a position to tie up the deal having moved the money- draining contract of Milan Jovanovic off his wage bill.

    Guaranteed that half of the people voting to keep him were completely against him staying until they saw how well he played in the friendlies.

    Stupid media and the gullible people who ate up the whole ‘Biggest Flop Ever’ tag.

    Aqua is staying atleast january.
    Kenny started him in the most important warm up game and took off with all the players who will start against Sunderland.
    ++
    gerrard and mirales injurd.

    not only aquilani stays, he’ll start against arsanal for sure.

    I’ve never felt he got a fair shake. I can’t for the life of me understand why Roy would have loaned him out last year… We sorely missed his creativity last year. Even with all the midfield talent we have brought in, I hope he stays.

    dont think he will get in ahead of adam, henderson or downing or kenny would have played him more by now…cant do thejob lucas is given&aint no competition for gerrard or suarez…is a good player but looking at the bigger picture, where does he fit in?havent heard a any1 list the qualities he brings to help the team win yet apart from the fact he hasnt had a fair shake…in a fair world we would get our money back or the player we payed for!we wouldnt have his agent pimping him to any italian club that flirts with him!swap him for lavezzi!

    Aquaman is a very talented player and adds depth to the team he plays for the natinal team 1 he can dribble and pass and he was never given the opportunity to shine we say YNWA but yet whn hogson loaned him out we left him in the cold give the man a chance if lucas did not stick in there he would be gone lets welcome him and see wht he does for us.

    I think aquilani should start while meireles and gerrard are injured. But I wonder where he will fit in when everyone is fit. Lucas will be a starter, I think Adam prob will be as well as downing and then gerrard will start also, so that’s meireles and aquilani on the bench. Maybe Adam and aquilani will be fighting for the starting spot. Henderson is only 20, so I think he will understand being on the bench a bit this season. But players like meireles and Adam wouldn’t be happy about being benched. Maybe we should sell meireles now, and keep aquilani cos meireles being benched would just make him want to leave and next season his price would be lower.

    I hope aquilani has the chance to impress in the first month of the season and let’s see if he can play as good as he has in pre-season. I think he has the potential to be for Liverpool what modric is for tottenham. Similar type of players.

    Aquilani has well balanced technical and creative skills which is useful against some sides in the BPL and in Europe. Keep him and use him more.

    if some one should be sold it must be shelvey , paulsen or cole

  29. sam charles - its 7.33am what time is it in uk?? in cuba getting blown

    08. Aug, 2011

    that is just bang on the money, what a way to say it!!!!!!

    thank god there is a liverpool with a view…..

    this shelvey kid is just pure crap,,, havent seen anything about him, yes he can pas sthe odd ball but he all round game is just dreadful, he ant run, he has no pace, he bottles out of 50 – 50′s he doesnt get goals, he cant beat people, for me he is and will turn out to be a nothing player that just drifts along with doing very little……

    the first players out of this club should be;

    in order;

    1 cole
    2 poulsen
    3 shelvey
    4 ngog

    just let degen and el zhar walk for nothing if needs be!!! their just dogshite.

    buttom line we have not done nearly enough yet in the market,, thats my view, i just think we are 4 players short still?

    center back, left back, wide player- right side, striker, thats what we are lacking in my book…..

    Would he get into the starting eleven of any of the clubs who are currently better than us – United, Chelsea, City, Arsenal, even Spurs?

    The answer is NO.

    Get rid. We’ve got about 12 senior midfieldrs, ffs, most of them sh*te!

    I think Aquilani has the ability, flair and skills dat we lacked last season, and with the aim of finishing 3rd or even 4th and impossibly winning the league dis season, it would be suicidal on kk part if we lose him either on loan or permanent sale.

    This aqua issue is too boring…can’t u guys see that he is the only attacking playmaker we ve now,,b’cus S.G and RAUL are not available,,,and besides he plays a different which is good 4 the team…I LOVE AQUA HE IS GREAT

  33. 4mula 1

    09. Aug, 2011

    Lets be frank with ourselves as true LFC fans, Aquilani would be providing the indepth attackin dat we’re missing, and I think KK should allow him 2 express himself dis season. No sale.

    As long as we don’t loan him out again I’m fine with either keeping him or selling him.

    It’s one of the oddest positions for a player and club to be in that I can remember. He’s a good player but it’s pretty clear that neither the player or the club or 100% happy with each other and yet no one is willing to pony up the cash to buy him. If he was rubbish (Poulsen) then it’s easy to see this situation develop, but not for a quality player that just dosen’t fit in. Very odd indeed.

    keep him, club has cried out 4 a player with vision and ability since the biggest mistake we hav made in yrs in selling alonso, shud never spent all that money on henderson but on a center back instead, poulson, shelvey, cole and lucus shud all be shown the exit door!
