Moussa Sow Keen on Liverpool Move

Moussa Sow Keen on Liverpool Move

Posted on 16. Jan, 2012 by in News, Rumours

Lille forward Moussa Sow has spoken frankly about his desire to play in the Premier League, admitting Liverpool would be a ‘dream club’ amidst reported interest from the Reds.

“I am at Lille now but as we all know I want to play in England one day,” Sow told Sky Sports.

“Liverpool, well, that is a dream club. Anyone would be happy, scoring goals in front of the Kop can be the highlight of a career.” he added.

The same source revealed that Liverpool are set to meet with Lille officials to discuss the permanent transfer of Joe Cole before long, and that the talks could double as negotiations for Sow who seems adamant about leaving the club in light of the recent interest in his services.

phillipe au claire (world football magazine french reporter) has just this minute been talking about this on talksport, he says the lille chairman is quoted as sayig NO lille player will be allowed to leave in january. personally i suppose we can could do a deal ow for the summer, but where would that leave us in getting a striker now?

  2. sam charles - either join or dont join, but lfc have to act?

    16. Jan, 2012

below is yet another fan’s view that i have taken from the web oage anfield online, and its what i have been saying for the last 2 weeks???

lfc simply have to find a qulaity marksmen or top 4 is nothing but a tall order and a conversation down the pub floks!!! its pay up or sit the champions league out and we all know it???

by the way are his comments form today, are they recent, if someone could prove they are the players words form at least recent times then maybe worth a bid of around 7.5 mill – 8 mill top whack any more then leave it welll alone.

Re: Kenny Dalglish expects quiet transfer window for Liverpool
« Reply #137 on: Yesterday at 07:54:05 PM »There are a number of reasons why we need a good signing now.
1 No Luis for 8 games in a side that has already struggled to score goals.
2 The Luis affair had a big negative impact on the club from outside the club not inside.
3 We are so close to a top four finish but not if we can’t find the net more especailly at home.
4 A good signing would give impetus to the rest of the season.
5 Dong Sweet FA is not an option.
Despite Kenny playing down signings i cant believe he isnt pressing hard for some money to beef up the side.

  3. sam charles - is comolli any good ? er?

    16. Jan, 2012

and we is it we cant do better than players that are either young and or still developing! or most of time we are being linked or going after players that are not doing anything of real note at their respective clubs!!!!!!!!! sear me lfc….

is this all comolli can do for what he is getting paid? – this guy cant even get into the lille team? and he has been a regular for while,, and we think he will come and set the world alight – great work comolli !!!! – dear me a fully paid scout comes uo with this list of players.

Sick of hearing “All we need is a quality marksman” and “If we only had a decent striker”.

You would think we got a stupid amount of opportunities at goal in the first place which we were continuously squandering.

we need the entire team to be more creative and willing to take chances. Against Stoke we had nobody in the box when we had the ball on the edge of their area and then they come out in the 2nd and the same is still happening!! Absolutely frightening that Kenny didn’t scream at them to push into the box (which I can only assume coz…well…they didn’t) and the many open areas Stoke were leaving!

It is completely naive and unrealistic to expect some new signing whose willing to make do with the pi55 poor service our midfield (with the exception of stevie) are barely able to offer and single handedly make everything all unicorns and rainbows again.

Right now with what we’ve got, f*ck Henderson off he has nothing and i truelly believe he is partially mentally handicapped and play…..

    433

    Bellamy Carroll Dirk

    Stevie G

    Downing Johnson

    Jose Agger Skrts Kelly

Never gonna happen because Kenny is too old school or somethin to realise that GJ is a winger and not a defender. I’d also Have Sterling on the bench to inject some fresh energy and hunger into the team. Kenny’s team selections are always poor as are his subs and he needs to be around less yes men and more realists because I’m starting to hate him for it.

His legacy is his, nobody can take that away but the club is not his and he needs to realise that even though he’s respected for his past….the future is whats most important!

sow on a free, swap deal with cole or for 5/7m this month, i wud be happy with.

KD is starting to fcuk me right off, with his team selections lately.

i still believe in KD, and i wish he just wakes up, smells the coffee and realizes that he is only 3 quality players short of getting a CL place for next season, top 4 finish this year,

i do not think the strikers is our main problem, lack of goals, cuzz i believe that if KD can sign ie de rossi, shaqiri or sinclair, hoilett and a striker ie raul, santa cruz, klose,(cover for carroll, bellamy, saurez) etc etc, then with the midfield nicely balanced, with pace n goals, our strikers will start scoring.

If KD can sort the midfield out this month, with quality 2/3 players, i think the team will start winning, strikers will start scoring, top 4 finish will be gained

The negativity here stinks. The only thing we are not doing is converting chances and only Chelsea are creating more chances at mo! Baffled how people were in support of Remy at 15 million but saying maximum of 8 for this guy, this guy blows Remy away. If he wants to play for us and if this can happen this could be a great deal. I’d happily pay anything up to 20 million plus Joe Cole and I don’t like French league players but if gunna sign from French league go for the best which is what this guy is!

Not a bad idea except we just played Enrique higher up the pitch in the Stoke game an was his worst game for us. Leave Enrique at left back where he has been awesome so far. Agree with Johnson, people were criticizing him coming into middle but if Kelly had of been playing he’d of been on overlap out wide. Agree downing has been disappointing and team hasn’t exactly been on fire but can’t escape simple fact if conversion wasn’t 9% an 24 goals if was14% an 36 goals (still a really low conversion) we’d be an awful lot higher in league. So no cant agree about how catastrophically bad everyone is saying we are.

20 mill for that crock of crap,,, no way, and he is not better than remy, funny how remy is starting for his club and scoring while sow is hardly in the team let alone the squad list!!!!!!!!!!!!!

french legaue has some cracking player but there tend to stay there or go to spain or seria a.

remy is a good player but again id leave it alone, hazard is about the only top top player that paying large sums of cash for is worth it.

but remy and sow are not for us, if your going to pay that much for sow than you might as well go and try and blow 40 mill on cavani or llorente etc.

Play Maxi in the forward position cause we need goals more than ever and certainly Carroll won’t get them for us. Any striker is better than Carroll and Sow is one of them that has some quality when it comes to poaching…

Thtas the kind of arrogant attitude that at present some of thw players are showing, some of the club are showing and indeed our very own so called great owbers!!!!-

champions league will not come in any way sharpe or form easily – thats the most stupid statement and it summs up the club at present.

why we havent got into the market and had a very good stiker and a winger here at melwood already is just staggering, its not as if we are spurs – sitting in 3rd , we 7th and yes ok we are up there but its not good enough.

wake up and see that we are not getting top 4 with the current squad, – I FEEL REALLY SORRY FOR SUAREZ, HE WILL BE LOOKED AT WHEN HE COMES BACK AND ALL THE PRESSURE WILL BE ON HIM ? – WHY BRING SOMEONE ELES IN THAT CAN HELP HIM F**** F***** SAKE.

Sam that rant is getting boring, you keep slating the club for nt being active HOW DO YOU KNOW THEY AREN’T???? They keep business behind closed doors. Cahill to Chelsea most straight forward signing ever has still taken over 2 weeks, at Liverpool that would have only been talked about this weekend. An there was never any other club Cahill was going to n that one. Bolton accepted the fee straight away and still 2 weeks to complete, we will bring players in and wuld have been involved in behind closed door negotiations for weeks before the public know. The ony time transfers happen quick is on deadline day so just give it a rest tired of reading same comment from you 20 times a day!

  20. siew3k

    16. Jan, 2012

Sam, you talk some amount of balls do you know that. First off, moussa sow is an excellent player who was ligue 1′s top scorer last season with 25 goals and has done very well this season as well. Granted I wouldn’t pay 20 mil for him or allot of strikers we are consistently linked to, but the numbers being mentioned are approx 4-6 mill with joe cole. How is that not a good deal????

Secondly, can everyone get over this johnson on the wing business? Do you not think if it was the right thing to do that maybe even 1 of our last 3 managers may have given it a go…..but they haven’t….and I think they might know a thing or two more than us. The main reason being is that a full back has allot more space and time to run into were as a winger does not . This creates a big problem. Don’t get me wrong, I would have loved to have seen it been given a go in the hope that he is a right sided bale….but he’s not. You basically saw the closest thing you will see to it last Saturday at stoke…..and that didn’t work out great.

Third, we don’t go buying 40 mil established players because we can’t attract them with no CL football and players like aguaro etc are on 200k a week as compared to carrolls 80k.

    Sam, please get an education.

    16. Jan, 2012

To win trophies you need a good keeper, defence and to keep the ball…………….Liverpool have all of that, the stats show it. We only need to finish teams off when on top as we usually are, people saying Liverpool are average are deluded.

KK is close in terms of having a complete team, as he plays the game the right way. Had we beat Stoke he would have been a tactical genius, It’s a fine line. We are miles stronger than last season but so are Spurs and Newcastle.

Liverpool need very little to make the next step, a striker will help that to happen. Who will complain at winning the League Cup????

Dalglish and a alot of u LFC fans are playing a very dangerous game by always looking at the glass half full and ignoring the fact that it is half empty and this is a problem. The glass is half empty and needs a striker, winger and a good midfield to hold up the central position better to make the glass full till it runs over. All said my point is simple being positive does not take away the negatives that exist, we ain’t playing top four football nor is the squad good enough to attain it. KK ust get rid of the idea that Carroll will transform into Torres or some quality striker cause it ain’t gonna happen no matter how many chances he gets.
I think any true fan with ambition for LFC to achieve the best must start facing reality as should KK that we are in desperate need of 3 quality players asap.
CL won’t happen this year not unless we get players.

  27. Pete

    17. Jan, 2012

Agree with most people here. Johnson and Enrique got their chance further up the pitch. Johnson was rubbish. Enrique was poor.

Maybe 20mil for Sow is too much…But we should be throwing some bids in. Use Cole too. Sow can bang in the goals. That’s all I care about.

And yeah, Coates is faster than Carroll and he can also dribble. Sam rant…

    COATES UP FRONT!!!!!
WHEN FIT!!!!! PAY UP FSG!!!!COMOLLI YOU C***

Sam you gotta stop being so one sided. And maybe you should do some research before making a big call on Sow. Sow is not on the bench, and he has scored 31 goals in 54 league appearances for Lille.

And how can you question Comolli? He is one of the best football directors out there. He has helped sign amazing talents such as Modric, KP boateng, Bale and Suarez. Do you really think he is sitting back and not doing anything? He is always on the lookout for players. It is just behind closed doors.

And maybe Comolli is a C*** I mean, Modric, Suarez and KP boateng are all rubbish anyway…

comolli a scout, do not make me laugh, more like a useless scout.
when he scouts players, he looks up their opta stats….fcuk me, a teenager can do that.

if comolli was so fcuking good at his job at spurs, ie scouting top young talent, why the hell did spurs remove him from their club???.
i wud like KD to remove comolli from his so-called job and i have more faith in KD scouting a player, than comolli, even certain people on this sit, can scout players better than comolli.

If the rumours of 8 million and Joe Cole for Sow are true i’d say it would be a brilliant transfer. So far we’re relying on Suarez to provide creativity, flair and finishing, signing an extra striker would not only help ease the pressure on Suarez but would send out a message to the rest of the EPL and hopefully see us finish off some teams! cause while i think Carroll can come good, if we’re serious about making the top 4 this season, we need someone else to help the team score asap!

  32. old gregg

    17. Jan, 2012

stevo – i would agree with you on most of your team selection, however im baffled you picked Downing! i dunno how KD still picks him. His stats = 21 games – 47 shots – 0 assists – 0 goals, hardly Liverpool quality

      17. Jan, 2012

Agree to a point, but he is the 8th highest ranked in the PL for chances created. These are the same chances we are not finishing. He also has one goal against Oldham. Still, I do agree he should assisting more……. and that chance against City still gives me nightmares. But it is a myth that downing is a prolific goal scorer. He has scored very little in his career, his bread and butter has been assists and chances created so he is at least half way there. I would personally like to see Maxi given a good run if for anything he is more clinical than some of Kenny’s favourites it would seem.

For those criticizing Comolli at Arsenal he was their chief European scout during their most successful period in their history during a time they were famous for their large European contingent, after his departure the trophies dried up within a few seasons and they’ve never got back to that level. At Spurs with Jol in charge of tactics they instantly transformed their squad from midtable to top 5 back to back seasons, Jol was then ridiculously sacked and replaced and they found themselves sliding down table, they wanted redknapp who wouldn’t work with a director which was why Comolli left but Spurs were instantly transformed showing how good Comolli’s squad must have been, even now years later the core of squad is still Comolli players! Comolli doesn’t just look at stats thats like saying a normal scout just goes to one game an signs players based on one performance its ridiculous an considering how many games Comolli is shown at obviously untrue.

    • siew3k

      17. Jan, 2012

@Anfield Rd Dreamer: Completely agree. It would be an very stupid move to fire Comolli. Before Kenny came into the fold last year there was talk of signing Suarez and the due diligence had already been done. Do you guys really think Kenny came in and said “let’s buy Luis Suarez” – No, he would have had very little to do with it. It was all Comolli. I do think Kenny has a good eye for a player as well but I can tell you the majority of the signings will have been based off suggestion from work done by Comolli. I also think Kenny would have the capacity to be a little stubborn as we have seen with Carroll were as I don’t think Comolli has this as he wouldn’t have the same emotional connection therefore would have an easier time of getting rid of someone. If Comolli goes, we are potentially fcuked.

exactly, disagree with the points made or with other comments, but do it in a way that resembles intelligence, with some proper thought out arguments. A lot of people are just completely ignorant of how football works, go and sign hazard, cavani, shaquiri problem solved…yeah if only it was that easy, big money “superstar” signings are no guarantee of anything. another idiotic argument is we spent 100m on “average” players, yet in the same argument the same people say well we’ve spent 100m so should be getting in the top 4… well if you think they are average players we wont be getting in the top 4 will we?cant have it both ways

man city have spent close to 300m in 3 seasons and got into the champions league once, spurs have been building under the same manager for 4/5 seasons utd for 25yrs and arsenal for 15. not only do we have to improve (it will take time and trial and error) but we are also fighting better teams improvement also… there is no argument we should be doing better this season we all understand that but we are certainly heading in the right direction, i still have faith we can make 4th, we’re not a long way off where we want to be, and its not tactics or formations or team selection, its a simple matter of putting the ball in the net…
