Lucas Leiva Set To Leave Liverpool

Lucas Leiva Set To Leave Liverpool

Posted on 28. Aug, 2010 by in News

Lucas Leiva has shocked Liverpool by declaring that he wants to leave Anfield due to family issues. It is believed that the Brazilians family have failed to settle into life on Merseyside and wish to move to a Spanish speaking country.

While this news will undoubtedly see many fans rejoice, Roy Hodgson will face a headache as the transfer window slowly comes to a close. Rumours surrounding the purchase of Raul Meireles could be a further indication that the 23-year-old is exit bound.

Lucas has suffered a turbulent time during his spell at the club, lowest of which saw him be booed by the home fans at Anfield. Never a player to set the world alight, the midfielder performed very consistently, thus earning himself the captains arm band in pre season as well as regular first team slots.

Kopsource rating: 7/10 – If there is a replacement.

If the Raul Miereles rumour is true, then I see no reason why we should keep hold of young Lucas, especially when all it is doing is delaying the enevitable. Although Lucas seems to carry himself with more respect than Mascherano, we have to remember this is how the whole saga with Masch began with; difference being Masch is a player fans would have held onto at all cost.

This is great news. He’s never going to be a Gerrard or Alonso. Leaving the club will be best for himself and the club. Now we must focus on new midfielders! I’d rather go for a Alonso-type midfielder ; defensive yet creative. Not just a defensive player.

If he wants to leave, let him go. Go for Raul Miereles, he was the only stand out player in world cup for Portugal according to my opinion. He is more like Alonso. One Left back, a midfielder (Raul Miereles) and one quality stricker and we are there in top four at the end of the season with Europa in the bag.

Let him go…..and not necessary to find the replacement for him…let get some money from sale and try to get one quality striker….really good striker better than torres…..

Don’t know why the news said that it has shocked liverpool fans. his arrival at the club was once again a bad piece of bargain by rafASS and his departure will certainly bring in better midfielder. come to think of it, i’m a better midfielder than him. so is my 12 year old brother.

i think this is lies anyway because only a few weeks ago lucas was saying how much he was lookin forward to workin under hodgsen and that he was really motivated for the coming season. i think he should be kept cos he has potential be great and if liverpool let him go we’ll soon regret it and all have egg on our faces

Lucas has improved dramaticaly over the last season and is a good cover option for midfield but never good enough to be a 1st team regular, poulsen only seems to be some simillar so we deff need Miereles to come into the side alongside stevie G.

thank u God for listening to my prayers!! just let him go and Ngog can help him pack coz my prayers include him leaving too!!!

    • GoatboyLFC

      29. Aug, 2010

your an idiot not only do you believe in prayers being answered you and the other on here dont thinki were gonna need squad players, that was the major problem last term, lucas might not be stevie or anywhere near him, but it would be stupid to deny that he has become a better player, and hodge could improve him further. Furthermore, to say you want ngog to leave is also verging on the ridiculous, he’s been awesome for a young lad at such a pressure filled club like ours, and given we seem no closer to securing a top class back up for torres, i’d rather keep this possible gem, he gets in to all the right position and confidence in the team and his ability will make him better, both the players you’re praying will leave have put massive efforts in to get better for themselves and the club, so why dont you lot just get behind the team we have instead of thinking you’re some sort of magician who can win the league with only torres gerrard and so new shit hot striker you cant even name.

P.s mirleles is a top buy, hopefully he’ll slot right into the team.

I hope Lucas is sold, and i hope he moves to a country ie france, spain, italy, that suits his footballing ability. if he is sold for 5m, i wud be happy with that.

To make it a perfect weekend for me, i wud like kuyt to be sold.

If Miereles signs, thats gudnews, he is class. i still think RH needs to sign 2 wide players ie turan, elia, missed out on ben arfa. plus to strikers are needed ie even if they are loan deals ie benzema, gomis

    • Dominic Campbell

      28. Aug, 2010

topscout. If you can get Benzema and Gomez on loan, as well as sign Turan for 9m and Elia for 8m as you keep quoting, then you should be Liverpool manager.

Turan is costing double figures at least. He is the clubs captain. Try 15M/ Would be a great signing though

  15. topscout

    28. Aug, 2010

Dom Campbell, i take ur points on my views.

turan can be signed for 8/9m, trust me, even though he is their captain. when a player wishes to sign for a club of his choice, then the price drops from 15m, to 8/9m. ie mash.

Elia might be harder to sign, but every player has a price.

I believe benzema, gomis can be signed on loan deals, as they will only be sitting on the bench at their clubs.

Players of the quality of benzema, gomis, turan, elai are needed in the starting 11 asap. plus players like reina, agger, sg, torres will stay at LFC.

Players like Lucas, Kuyt need to be sold asap.

    • Dominic Campbell

      29. Aug, 2010

topscout. I see what you are saying and I am not disputing that they would be great additions, but Turan would never force a move in the same manner that Masch has.

He went on strike and we had to sell him. With the window closing soon we couldnt afford to wait and haggle. We needed money for signings now.

Galatasaray on the other hand would set a fee for their player and keep it there. I think you are looking at £12M at least for him.

Stephane sessegnon would be a good shout imho.

Gomez wants to fight for his place at his current club and the same goes for Benzema I do believe.

Andy Carroll though, that lad is a beast. Been impressed with him

  16. topscout

    29. Aug, 2010

If RH trys to sign Carlton Cole, then i hope he offers 5m cash n Lucas. if he offers 10m for cole, then RH has been robbed.

i wud be happy if RH signed carroll from newcastle, than cole,

    29. Aug, 2010

Lucas is only 23, he’s a very hard working player. i feel that we shouldn’t write him off yet. is 2-3 years time im pretty sure he’s going to improve to another level. i feel that we shouldn’t sell him away. he’s hard working. this hard work will pay off soon.

What an inflammatory and inaccurate headline… you are an idiot.

It is interesting (and boringly predictable) to see so many other “fans” jumping on a bandwagon that cannot even be raised to the level of speculation, and indeed has not even had its wheels fitted yet.

Apart from Lucas declaring in the last month that he wants to stay at LFC under Roy would he have played the Europa league matches and been cup-tied in Europe for the rest of the year if he was contemplating leaving?

Lucas is 23yo and improving (slowly I will admit) but he has the potential to become an important player in the Liverpool set up over the next 3 years.

Oh yes and as a bonus the Kuyt-haters have hitched a ride on the wagon as well – what a surprise!

He could score the goals that clinch the Premiership and the FA Cup in the same year and you brainless bozos would still want him out… I’m sure you guys kill at managing Liverpool on Wii and so on.

If Lucas leaves I will happily post an apology on here – but I do not think that will be happening… do you?!?!

Jim In Oz. We really should sell Kuyt. He’ll play horrible the entire game, but get that one rebound right at the end and people think starting him was justified. No, him being on the field probably makes us waste/not have the opportunity to score 2-3 more goals a game. Everybody says “He’s a hard worker”….if he didn’t lose possession half the times he gets it he wouldn’t have to be always trying to get the ball back. Jovanovic is a hard worker also…that doesn’t mean he should be starting though.

    29. Aug, 2010

Just because he is not like Gerrard, Alonso, Masch or any other world class midfielder, doesn’t mean he is not important. I’m not a big fan of Lucas but I do believe that he can be a great player. I’m very tired of hearing so-called Liverpool fans condemning Lucas. He’s only 23 for God’s sake.

    29. Aug, 2010

Thank God. Lucas won’t play for any top 4 clubs, the fact that he plays for us shows you where Liverpool has sunk. We are no longer the feared Scousers, even WBA could have beat us today. Liverpool must find a new owner, and a better coach than Hodgson,it is clear that he is out of his depth at this expectant club.

at last the Brazilian Postman is about to leave the club jesus thank god for that …. funny how after the years of Benitez telling us how good a player he is he has,nt been linked with trying to take him with him to inter ,,,the guy is an average player at best hope he goes before tranfer window closes ,,,,this is as good a news as us getting Cole ,, and stevie and nando staying ,,,,YNWA

It`s true Lucas looked average at times during his stay at Liverpool but one has to be blind to deny that he has improved a lot recently and been outstanding in some games like yesterday `s vs Chelsea. When St. Gerrard has an off day, thankfully rare, Lucas remains the only player who can give an intelligent pass. When S.G. is on the go, he helps him to be brilliant. On the other hand, Lucas has to cut out his penchant to give away dangerous freekicks near our area. He may make some people eat their words in the long run.

This paragraph will supply additional comments from the writer restating their beliefs about the study by essentially repeating the exact same stuff they said within the earlier quotes but with slightly diverse words. In this remark I’m agreeing a bit strongly with a previous remark, as a misplaced flirt, as I’m assuming they’re a) female and b) hot, based on their monika and photo. This remark makes 1, possibly additional, points that various other commenters have raised due to the fact I didn’t bother to read the entire thread. This remark suffers from the misapprehension that: a) journalism is really a well paid and cushy career selection and b) the writer of the piece must never write anything which doesn’t adhere to my unsupported opinon of what the publication exists for.

Each of our 1-bedroom accommodation on the Honua Kai Resort & Spa is simply a 5-minute walk to the north of WKORV and also WKORVN. I can see WKORVN in addition to WKORV from your lanai. Your 1-bedroom is usually 960 sq feet along with our bait is definitely 900 sq ft, not looking at its measurements, nonetheless I’m recommending that our 1-bedroom has to be easy way to extend holiday with WKORV. Or maybe, when you have friends/relatives as well as can’t recieve an II swap for the next property look at our 1-bedroom! Honua Kai
