Liverpool Pursue Scott Sinclair

Liverpool Pursue Scott Sinclair

Posted on 07. Jan, 2012 by in Rumours

Liverpool are seeking to add some pace to their side with the prospective signing of Scott Sincair, although Swansea appear unwilling to sell their prized asset.

Sinclair, formerly of Chelsea, had a fine season in the Championship last term and has done relatively well since his return to the top flight. At 22, he certainly fits with the FSG blueprint for long-term success, although some Reds supporters have expressed concerns about his ability to step up to the challenge of playing for Liverpool.

Kopsource rating: 65% – (Kopsource ratings explained)

Source credibility: 65% Player rating: 68% Player Potential: 75% Value for money: 70% Likelihood: 45%

During his time at Chelsea Scott Sinclair was billed as the next big thing, but up against the new money signings of the Abramovich era he never really stood a chance of breaking into the first team.

He has since done well to make a name for himself in the Premier League, but is far from the finished article. He would give Liverpool some much needed pace, for which they currently rely on the rickety knees of Craig Bellamy, and he has also proved himself to be a goal threat both in the Championship and Premier League, albeit somewhat less so in the latter thus far.

Swansea are reportedly unwilling to entertain any offers at this point, although every player has their price and if Liverpool want to meet it, the funds are there to do so.

think he will be a good buy, but quite a risky one. as long as we dont overbid for him, because swansea really want to keep him.

    O hell fcuking NO.

is Comolli working for United/fergie, undercover.

i wud not trust comolli in, ordering me a english breakfast.

the sooner comolli is out of our great club, the better for all.

sinclair, good average player, but not needed at LFC or in our starting 11, ifhe was that good, chelsea wud of kept him.

instead of sinclair, i wud prefer…. jarvis, albrighton, moses, mcgeady, drenthe, marin, navas, etc etc

well he fits the mould of the player that we need the most. IMO a pacy tricky winger is more essential than a top class striker this january because the new guy can slot in on the right, downing moved to the left (sholud be able to do better on the left wing) and bellamy and carroll up front. but of course we need a good goal scorer, not neccessarily a marquee signing in that area who costs an arm and a leg.

  6. matt

    08. Jan, 2012

    * sorry * one who doesn’t cost us an arm and a leg :)

  7. sam charles - matt go and learn the game!

    08. Jan, 2012

A top class winger he is not, but to write this off would very foolish!!! this guy was never given the chance at that plastic crap heap of a club down in london.

He has pace to burn, he can run with the ball as well or better than any player we have suarez apart.

He is young, works back and ggets up and down and would link up well with glen johnson and kely down the right or can even switch to left side as he can and does play on both wings!-

His wages will not be high for player now in the league that is the over paid premiership! – he will have a great fresh attitude, he is used to playing football on the deck unlike carroll etc, he is never injuried either and at swansea he will have had a good school under breden rogers too.

Remember we have time with this guy, he is just 22 years old and already got goals at swansea – he is the old fashioned winger and every team needs a player that is that, we could get him for around 6-7 million whihc in these days is a very cheap, get him on a long term deal, if it does not work we will be able to sell him and at least make the money back, its not a risk at all.

id take him and david junior hoilett as well, remember maxi and kuyt cant go on for ever, yes id love maxi and kuyt to stay around as good squa dplayers but they are not getting any younger, we need two more wide players, because i cant really find a case for the fact that downing has not really been that good, good player on his day but those are not fourth cominbg are they.

Id take a bet with any football fan and within 6 months, my bet would be– that sinclair or hoilett would give us much more than downing would do!….. any day of the week.

Buy them both for around 15 – million and thats great business in these days, and yes it is!!!!

we need two widemen and more pace into the team and its clear that we do.

    pay out fsg

    08. Jan, 2012

Good potential, pace to burn and can actually take a penalty. No idea if he can fulfill potential, but he has potential all the same. 10m wld be ok.

  9. sam charles - either get both for cheap or get just one player that can do the job

    08. Jan, 2012

scott sinclair will not be sold for 10 mill, if thats the price then walk! -

lfc should be looking for around 6 – 7 mill. – remember chelsea only paid around 200,000 for him and thats was only a few years ago, he has had only half a good season in this years league with swansea and yes he has been good but i cant understand where on earth you get a 10 mill pound player in that?.

Id pay top whack at 7 mill and even that is high, walk away if over that………

also he has only played short time in the premier league!

hoilett is worth more because he has played for longer in the league but again he is also just raw potentail also, id like to pay around top whack – 15 mill and thats that, anymore just go and get a better player and just one of them.

The best bit about getting the two of them, is that the wages will not be sky high and we get two for the price of one!!! but if the price gets higer leave it.

    ynwa…

Why when we are linked with these players, everyone starts ragging on KK + DC? They haven’t come out and said that’s who we are looking at. It’s just rumours, but nevertheless there’s people having a go at DC especially. Comolli, got us Suarez! I’m not gonna be having a go, when stories these are probably from Goal.com or something. Although this one’s sources credibility is 65%. Could the Kopsource team print source names in future?

With Sam Charles on this, spot on analysis. Been wanting Sinclair since under 21s tournament in summer was top class and Hoilet too. If Kuyt does leave for Gala that’s most of the transfer fee for both probably all the wages for both and both are faster and technically more skillful of either can develop Kuyt’s work ethic would be amazing business. Sinclair situation reminds me a bit of Sturridge who was useless till loaned to Bolton but world class and potentially Chelseas best attacker now.

Besides what’s wrong with being a good championship player? Adam Johnson was signed by City JUST on his Championship form, that worked alright didnt it?

  13. Niels

    08. Jan, 2012

Could do a decent job for us. I prefer hoilett though and get Ba to

  14. blair

    08. Jan, 2012

i dont get why youre all saying its comolli who is looking at him :S It’s probly Dalgish who wants him because he is British. Comolli is in Hollan so it cant be him so before you start blaming him make sure you know the facts

  15. anfield rd dreamer

    08. Jan, 2012

The club sign players as a group decision, Comolli monitors players from all over in every position and also the academy, Comolli an Kenny then decide positions in the squad that need strengthening and if there is nobody within the academy ready to step up they will go through the options for that position Comolli has found, Kenny will have a look at the ones he likes most FSG will then say if they are willing to fund the outlay needed then once all parties agreed Comolli or Kenny will make the approach. There are no “Comolli signings” or “Kenny signings” only LFC signings. The 2 reasons we signed so many British players was 1 the new league rules about minimum 8 homegrown senior players in league squad (we’ve only got the minimum 8 still) and 2 less of a gamble signing players who can already play in our league, plenty of fantastic players haven’t been able to make that adaption.

What proof do you have that Comoli is in Holland? Someone on twitter said it?

    08. Jan, 2012

Sorry but not good enough for Liverpool. If we are serious about finishing top 4 we need players of a higher quality.

  18. blitz

    08. Jan, 2012

LFC is a racist club with racist fans and i 4 one won’t support such a club any longer and as for rumours about Bent, Ba, Sinclair, Moses or any black players they say will come to Anfield it won’t happen as the club already has it’s one black player quota reached in Glen Johnson. They waste money on worthless players like Carroll, Adam and Henderson to name a few and support them even tho they ain’t worth s-h-i-t but as for all the black players like Babel or Sissoko who are good players they play em’ out of position or sell them and keep on backing Carroll and they useless white players don’t cha.
LFC YouWalkAlone cause u all racist man.

    • sam charles - please take blitz comments of here as of now, if not Im going to the club.

      08. Jan, 2012

reported you for that, I will not have that writtern about my Liverpool FC

Moderators please take the above comments off this web page please.

If not i will seek to find out who you are and inform the club that your making a huge statement and in itself then calling us all racist.

      Im not having that!!!!!!!!!!

“Blitz” obviously has the intellectual capability of a snail. His points would maybe make some form of sense if the decisions made about the players he mentions had been made by the same people but as LFC has had those decision maker positions changed within the last three years at least twice each it means he now believes about 200 people from all walks of life and some that have never met each other are all part of some form of racist global conspiracy to make LFC a racist club. I’ve seen more believable stories in the x files.

    08. Jan, 2012

And for those saying Sinclair isn’t at the level we need, why? Because he was in Championship last year? Well our best summer signings are Enrique, Bellamy and Adam who were all playing in the Championship either that season (Bellamy) or the season before! Ridiculous view good players work their way up not every great player is always at a good club in a good league their whole career, he is a winger with a goal every 4 appearances against premier league opposition, thats good enough for me!

    • Bob

      08. Jan, 2012

      @anfield rd dreamer

I have watched sinclair play many times this season and last and let me tell you the boy is not good enough for Liverpool. At best he would do well at a mid-table EPL team but top 4/6 club i repeat not good enough

  22. Dave mc

    08. Jan, 2012

Blitz – fk off and support Man Utd you moron. Do you think we should sign players jut because they’re black? Have you ever looked at our academy which is full of players from around the world? 2 bob fake supporters like yourself aren’t wanted. Switch your tv over and see what other team yi can find to follow for the next few weeks.

    09. Jan, 2012

i think he would be a good buy for 5-8 mil max and see what happens, he is fast and good with his feet, can play on both sides something we need…downing would benifit from such a player could become a switch parnership….this is the jan window and i think till the summer this is the player we require…also would allow bellamy, kuyt and maxi to move up to striker

    09. Jan, 2012

David Silva surrounded by quality players at City receiving lots of recognition for how dangerous an attacking midfielder he is with 5 goals in 20 appearances. Well Sinclair has 5 in 20 too, an no disrespect to the Swansea players they ain’t on same level as City. This lad may not be a glamour signing but all I care about is what he can do on the pitch and not seen anything yet to put me off.

    09. Jan, 2012

Sam if he was called Sinclairinho and played for Villareal with 5 out of 20 and impressing in the Spanish under 21′s this lot would be compiling you tube videos, signing him up on Championship manager and bleating on here about how he is worth £20 million + but because he is English had a rough time at Chelsea (that team with such a great history of bringing through youth players) and plays for Swansea then LFC are ridiculously bad for even looking at him, At the Under 21′s in the summer I watched nearly every game and caught all the England, Swiss and Spanish games and he was easily as good Sturridge and Wellbeck in our squad and look how well they’re doing at top teams this year!

remember Sinclair has the potential of a Chelsea academy graduate and has been Swansea’s beast player this year.

    10. Jan, 2012

our targets should be adam johnson and a great striker. i d love to see torres back!!!ba could be a great option!! 15 goals so far is really good. for a price of 15mil we could buy him!!!

  32. anfield rd dreamer

    10. Jan, 2012

Apparently Ba’s current buy out clause is less than 7 million so think EVERYBODY will try and sign him and it’ll be his choice. Adam Johnson would be amazing but would be extremely unlikely unless he forces his way out an no signs of that. So yeah both good targets but both very doubtful. Think you need to be bit more realistic. Any 2 of Sinclair, Hoilett, Shaqiri, Wilfried Zaha, Willian (Donetsk) or De Bruyn for me, all realistic all would add quality. And if Kuyt leaves a centre forward too.

none of the teams in the prem will go for ba and certainly not lfc…this is due to him being in the african cup of nations and same goes for tioti so can rule both of them out

  35. H. Dumpty

    11. Jan, 2012

Well, I don’t know what to believe any more. What I do know is that our current midfield lineup is severely lacking in quality, and the sooner we sort that out the better. But something tells me that our scouts will muck it up all over again as they did during the last summer window. Oh, and by the way, does it ever occur to you that if Martin Jol had spent the same amount that we did, he’d probably be chasing the title?

  36. anfield rd dreamer

    11. Jan, 2012

Which midfield are you talking about? The one that’s had to play for extended periods without 2 of its best players Gerrard & Lucas? The midfield bedding in loads of new players within their first 6 months at the club? The midfield that’s helped us be joint most attacking in the league this year whilst also being second best team defensively? That “quality missing” midfield? Or the midfield of “expensive flops” the media are desperately trying to persuade people we have because it makes a juicier story and sells more papers? Our new look midfield has been getting the job done very well in difficult circumstances. And what you on about Jol spending better? Comolli bought all his players, you know him, he’s the guy currently buying ours! Fool!

  37. joy

    12. Jan, 2012

i tried not to talk about this Ba issue but you gut are f***ing me off. in January 2011, Andy carol score 11 goal for NC and we gambled with him. whether it paid off or not i await the future cos am patient. Now, Ba scores 15 in January 2012 and the hyped England thinks he’s the deal. what the f**K are you guys thinking. Podolski can be gotten, Saldaldo is hoping for a dream move, etc. lets think better and i think KD and Commoli are better thinkers than the craps calling for Ba.
