Liverpool FC & Warrior Confirm Partnership

Posted on 19. Jan, 2012 by in News

We first reported the news that Liverpool FC had struck a record-breaking kit deal with Warrior Sports back in April 2011, and both parties have now confirmed the partnership which will bring an end to a long and fruitful relationship with adidas.

Richard Wright, General Manager for Warrior Sports said: “At Warrior Sports we pride ourselves on high performance and an incredible desire to win. Our Partnership with Liverpool FC, a football institution and recognised brand name across the world, is the perfect fit. Warrior Sports has ventured into football to bring our knowledge of making top level product to a new playing field. We are not the sort of brand that is going to keep our head down. We are here to shake up the world of football and our Partnership with one of the most successful club teams of all time is just the start.”

Ian Ayre, Managing Director of Liverpool Football Club, added: “Liverpool FC is thrilled to be able to announce this fantastic Partnership with Warrior Sports for the 2012-2013 Barclays Premier League season onwards. This is another landmark deal for Liverpool Football Club and once again shows the value of the Club’s brand globally. Warrior Sports will bring its own unique brand and ideas to the Partnership, ensuring that they can assist us at the Club both on and off the field of play. Sharing the same focus of domination and winning will be an incredibly important part of this Partnership going forward. As with all our Partnerships we have taken time to form a relationship with the individuals behind this opportunity. I believe that Warrior have some outstanding people we can work closely with to continue to deliver quality products to our fans around the world.”

HAHA-massive sour grapes from adidas over this, 4th biggest shirt selling club in the world!! we’d have had deals like this 10 years ago if it wasn’t for rik parry’s ineptness and selling the club short with every comercial deal we’ve ever had, see a lot of people on other threads saying its because of what happened with suarez etc that adidas have pulled out but as the article said this was announced a 9 months ago. people also saying how will warrior market this…well people buy he kits for club not who makes them…warrior will do just fine, with the upcoming USA tour this summer i suspect we’ll be fine

Warrior is owned by New Balance. Just thought I’d add that. Glad we’ll be getting about 11 million more a season.

In the words of Jerry Maguire; “Show me the money!” Great deal by Ayre and as we are one of the highest selling shirts in the world makes sense for Warrior too, even though loved the Adidas shirts, now just looking forward to seeing what the new Warrior designs are like.

Good news, but I just hope the kits for next year look good.

There is a thread on the official LFC forums where a guy did some mock-ups of the Warrior kits and they looked amazing.

Hopefully the company will have seen that and used it for inspiration.

I actually like the old school designs.

not sure about the “modern” though, and that’s prolly the direction they’ll go.

        @bunker

Different strokes for different folks I suppose, I really like the new designs, even the tiger claw motif looks amazing I think.

The black away kit is hands down the best football kit design I have ever seen.

Thanks for that upper krust they really look like alright kits fears bit alleviated. It’s going to be hard for warrior following Adidas but sure the new kits will be epic, especially as our boys will be wearing them during a bright new era, the futures bright the futures scouse YNWA.

im convinced it will be a massive company, massive, im talking coke, pepsi, apple…that kind of league. these guys spend 1bn+ a year on commercial activity 15-20m a year over 10-15 years is a like pissing in the pacific for these kind of companies

I’m a big fan of Puma clothing does that prevent me from buying or wearing Adidas clothing? No…. at the end of the day it has LFC shield that’s all that matters.

Great deal for LFC. I love adidas, but at the end of the day, an extra 12M a year is huge. Designing a shirt isn’t that hard, so I’m not worried that Warrior has no past experience. I expect Warrior to roll out a fairly conservative kits in their first season; I’m just hoping they keep the black kits!

kinda agree… designing a shirt is no big deal !

if man city got 400 million for the naming rights for their stadium (all be it dodgy) we should get more than half if not the same as that for a 10 to 15 year period i think arsenals was 120million. this should be the next thing to be struck…as shxxt as it is this must happen if we are to compete with the big boys and everything seems to be heading in the right direction with fsg….maybe a fan thankyou for them wouldnt go a miss

    • strebby

      20. Jan, 2012

the 400m deal city got was a joint 10 year sponsorship for stadium naming AND shirt sponsorship, not just stadium, we could easily use that model for a deal (200m for 10 years stadium deal) as a bench mark, i dont care how much money city have they are not a global club (give it 3 years they will be) at the moment. i dont see any reason why we cant aim for a 250m deal over 15 years, but i suspect we’ll start at a lower price of around 150-175m over 10 years

  13. anfield rd dreamer

    20. Jan, 2012

You’re all forgetting the city deal only happened because the company who “sponsor” them are financially linked to the owner and its a sneaky way for the owner to pour money into the club without falling foul of fair play rules. Don’t use that as a working example. If Arsenals was 120 million you can see why the reported price Ayre is looking for is 150 million, it’d make it the biggest “real” stadium sponsorship deal and is the initial injection of cash needed to get the project started, itll take 5-6 years and the other 150 million will be paid by club/owners 25-30 million a year, which we would need the extra champions league revenue for which is an extra 20-45 in tv revenue depending on how far you get and then extra gate revenue too.

The big thing is that warrior only have the rights to game day product, meaning LFC can have all other merchandise provided by whomever and profit from it at a considerably higher rate of return. Adidas controlled most of the merchandise and profits therein – now the club will see a higher yield on merchandise than ever before… Oh and double the money in contract too. FSG = NO JOKE.
