Liverpool Interested in David Texeira

Liverpool Interested in David Texeira

Posted on 16. Jan, 2012 by in Rumours

Liverpool are looking to seal a deal for FC Groningen’s young striker David Texeira, according to several sources.

Kenny Dalglish has always maintained that the Reds would not be busy in the January transfer window, but their failure to find the net has become a serious concern as points continue to be dropped in the pursuit of a top four finish.

Texeira, 20, is far from the finished article but would certainly fit in with FSG’s policy of buying players with their best years ahead of them. Seven goals in twelve outings this season is a good return for a young player, although the Eredivisie never has been the benchmark for judging a striker’s efficiency.

Kopsource rating: 68% – (Kopsource ratings explained)

Source credibility: 65% Player rating: 68% Player Potential: 78% Value for money: 70% Likelihood: 60%

Texeira is an intelligent number 9 with a knack for taking up useful positions in front of goal, something which Liverpool have been desperately lacking of late. If he believes he has the beating of an opposition defence he will run them ragged, although it remains to be seen how he would fare in the rough and tumble of the Premier League. In any case, his representatives are expected to link up with their client to discuss his future within the next few days.

I have no doubt that Texeira would be good for a few goals in England, but it is doubtful that he could come in and spearhead the attack week in, week out from the off. If he were to arrive at Anfield he would most likely be utilised as a squad player to relieve some of the pressure on the misfiring Andy Carroll & co.

If he were to be afforded enough first team football then he could develop into a good Premier League striker, much in the same way that Javier Hernández has done for Manchester Utd. If not, he could go the way of David Ngog – forever floating around the peripheries of the first team before being offloaded to start over at a lesser club than our own.

NB: Analysis of this player IS NOT based on a YouTube clip. This is simply for your enjoyment!

If Liverpool is going to buy, they should buy him sooner before other clubs develop their interests in him.we are sick and tired of maintaning games posession without goals. Buy him when we despirately need him if he’s to be our Top9

Could be a good replacement for Kuyt as our back-up striker.

Don’t see him fulfilling the role of main striker at Liverpool though.

and how is he going to get a work visa,
not seen much from this guy but he does look good, but really you cant tell just from you tube and playing in that league either?

you need to reall study his play for about 6 months and go watch every game for nearly a season before a real sound judgement can be mad!

We should buy Dusan Tadic (10) according to this video, he is the man behind all the assists.

Quick, strong and can finish with both feet and his head. Barring some astronomical price I can;’t see how this would not be a decent piece of business. As much as going on YouTube clips is a dangerous game he seems a hell of a lot better than what we have now and I think he could go right in the team. Although it’s the Dutch league 7 goals in 12 is still a very good return and I think we should be trying to get this guy.

He has some serious potential with very good talent and I agree he is a poacher of the highest order.

I would be looking for this guy before Sow…….and Sow is at the ACN so we wouldn’t even get the benifit for another 5-6 weeks perhaps.

  6. sam charles - i nearly give up with my beloved lfc in the market?

comolli i could rip his *********** head off…. what is he doing for his money?

Bruce Grobbelaar has basically confirmed that Kenny is interested in this lad “looking at a South American striker playing in Holland” could be somebody else but odds are its this lad he also said “I know that he’s quite close in getting another striker. I’m not going to be the one to actually tell you who, but I’m sure the striker will be arriving soon.” Interesting.

id take this guy think he will bring something to our squad…the half of season will break him in and next season he could be a first team starter….him over kuty all day long.
as much as i respect kuyt and maxi i think they need replacing with players that are like this guy , hungry, skillful and can bring something every game

he looks a bit like fowler to me ,has to be a decent player in the making, hard to know by video clips.would be good replacement for kuyt who.s been a great servant to us but he.s over the hill now.its encouraging that a lot of youth players are getting trials.we just need a livewire around the box ,he could just be what the doctor ordered.y.n.w.a.

FC Groningen(NL), which is David Texeira’s club, is said to be keen on keeping all teamplayers together. I somewhere read that there is an bid considered of GBP 9 million, though and could motivate this club to agree to a quick transfer to the Reds.
