Gerrard Calls for Cup Calm

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard hopes the headlines following the club’s clash with Manchester Utd on Saturday will be about the football, as opposed to the fans.
The Reds have taken a hammering in the press following recent racism allegations, and there are fears that things could boil over as the old arch enemies square up at Anfield in the fourth round of the FA Cup at the weekend.
Gerrard is the latest high profile figure to urge supporters to act responsibly throughout the game, after Utd Manager Sir Alex Ferguson released a statement calling for “positive, witty” support from the Old Trafford travelling faithful.
“We all have a responsibility on Saturday to ensure that this game is remembered for the football,” said Gerrard.
“Liverpool and Manchester United is a massive rivalry and of course there is going to be stuff in the papers and banter between fans, but it would be fantastic if after the weekend it is remembered for being a top game and obviously, from our point of view, a Liverpool win.
“We don’t want any front page stories from this game or any stories besides a football match between two top sides.”

The first comment is clearly from the dumb neanderthal type of idiot that gives our fans a bad name. Luckily most of our fans are level headed, fair and respectable.
sam charles - lets give them a cauldron of hate tomorrow

No – the players and the image of the club must stay calm and it goes without saying within the perminature of the laws of the game and laws in life, but thats all.
Every Liverpool fan, must make anfield a cauldron of hate towards man utd, we must make it so over the top its crazy, i want it like it is when you get this game,- in terms of its noise, colour, banners, atmophere, energy.
None of us want any fan coming out with stupid racist remarks at all and we all want to hold the name of LFC up in the best way possible and not let the club down – but thats where the love and nice attitude stops, – its stops their.
I HATE THESE LOT FROM DOWN THE ROAD and i dont think we have to not sing and not really make our home a fourtress!!!!
Evry time a player form utd touches the ball – just go crazy, every time there is a ball out of play get on to the players and make it crazy loud!!!!
COME ON LIVERPOOL, lets hit this lot for 6…….

Why is it dumb to point out that a multi cultural society numbering in its millions is not racist despite the words used by two people (neither of which as of yet proven in a court of law) and to point out the only people we feel any animosity too is people from our rival city (both historical and sporting rival) as John Barnes, a man who suffered racism of terrible proportions in his life, has said there is nothing wrong with general footballing ‘abuse’ between teams rivals and players. They will offer us abuse Fergie has practically asked them too, so tell me, what’s wrong with that chant?
