Enrique: Reds Still in Chase For Fourth

Enrique: Reds Still in Chase For Fourth

Posted on 13. Feb, 2012 by in News

Left-back Jose Enrique believes that the Reds are still in the race for fourth spot, but admits that the team should improve their results, especially at Anfield, if they are to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Defeat at Old Trafford on Saturday leaves Kenny Dalglish’s side in seventh place, four points below Arsenal, who currently occupy the final Champions League spot.

Disappointed after losing 2-1 to arch rivals Manchester United, the Spaniard told the club’s official website:  “We lost but the truth is that we have to win more games at home. It is hard to beat Manchester United at home but against teams like Blackburn and Swansea at home we need to win the points.

“We are still in the race to be in the Champions League next season. It’s hard, but Chelsea and Arsenal have lost many points too. Chelsea lost this weekend and we can’t forget Newcastle.

“You never know in football – that’s why everyone likes it. But we’re still in the race.”

Enrique went on to add that Liverpool still have to play both Chelsea and Arsenal, their main rivals for fourth spot, at Anfield.

“It’s really important that we have to play these teams at home, we’ll have another man – you play with 12 with our fans.

“But it’s not just them. There are many games left and we have to beat many teams to try and be there.”

Well be lucky to finish 7 we are rubbish a couple of wins just papers over the cracks let just admit it we wasted money in the summer and it’s coming back to hurt us now we didn’t strengthen in jan but don’t worry some people on here still think we are the mutts nuts

Why people say ‘we will be lucky to get 7th’ and all that crap. Sarcastic or not. Have some respect for our club for gods sake. Some changes and we could be flying!

Leo we say that cause it seems true can see us finishing any higher if we continue to pick two of the biggest flops in downing and Henderson they were shocking sat what changes would u make now u can’t we are not going to give some off our younger players if I was sterling seeing downing picked over me every week I would be gutted he will go out on loan then end up being sold just like all our other talented youngsters

Why did we loan Pacheco out? I just don’t get it, I really don’t. He’s a fantastic young player and he was superb for Norwich last year. Everyone else seems to have forgot about him.

Exactly we have very talented youngsters but the youngster with least talent gets all the game time spearing shelves is better than him sterling better than downing we now have texierra where is he give some of them a chance against Brighton this is what winds us up our reserves side plays better football than the first team

Well why not. But on one condition, if the teams above stand still like the sun did at Aijalon a long, long time ago. Good one, Jose :)

If 3 of the draws had been wins we’re in 4th place right now. That’s not a huge difference. Have a little faith in Kenny and the squad. YNWA

There is no harm in dreaming, second rate team, second rate manager( sorry Kenny) and will finish where we deserve 7th. Might win the Carlington if they manage to score a goal that is but forget the FA cup. Poor spending, Aquilani left, Meriels left and ended up with this lot. Oh well lets dream on with Enrique.

I also desperately await the arrival of an Islamic leader to rectify the state of affairs but while in the meantime I dread the problems may well materialize faster than the alternative and other than it is us who need to put together the way for such a leader to come.
